Up one level- Land Cover Mapping
- MDA provides landcover maps to NOAA as part of the Coastal Change Analysis Program (C-CAP) and to USGS as part of the NLCD 2001 program. To produce these maps, MDA utilizes a Classification and Regression Tree (CART) mapping methodology developed in cooperation with USGS, and implemented in a production environment. NOAA C-CAP maps provide important land cover change data to NOAA’s coastal monitoring program, and NLCD 2001 products are critical components of the nation’s LANDFIRE program, providing consistent, nation-wide fuel and vegetation data for fire management programs.
- Impervious Surface and Canopy Cover Mapping
- MDA maps impervious surface and canopy cover for USGS, utilizing a Classification and Regression Tree (CART) mapping methodology developed in cooperation with USGS, and implemented in a production environment. These NLCD 2001 products are critical components of the nation’s LANDFIRE program, providing consistent, nation-wide fuel and vegetation data for fire management programs.
- Satellite Image Processing and Analysis
- MDA has processed thousands of commercial and civil remote sensing satellite images. We provide basic image processing services such as geometric and radiometric correction, orthorectification, bundle (block) adjustment, mosaicking, merging (fusion), and advanced services such as image enhancements, in-depth quantitative analyses, image classification, and quality control.
- Source of Commercial and Civil Imagery
- MDA is a distributor of essentially all the commercial and civil data types, including QuickBird, IKONOS, SPOT, OrbView, ResourceSat, Landsat, EROS, RADARSAT, ERS, Hyperion, ALI, ASTER, MODIS, SRTM, etc. MDA provides dedicated customer service to our clients, and offers priority-level services for requirements reviews, catalog searches, scene selection, browse image generation, order tracking, price estimates, and quotes.
- Resource Management Tool Development
- MDA’s advanced image analysis tools are critical components of several global mapping programs. MDA’s patented massive block triangulation technique was the enabling technology for the global GeoCover Ortho project. MDA also developed and patented Cross Correlation Analysis, a change detection procedure for mapping land cover changes between two multispectral images. MDA's GeoTools is an area frame sampling approach to estimating area of agricultural or land cover features using statistical procedures released in ERDAS Imagine.
- Weather Data
- Using data sourced from the U.S. National Weather Service MDA EarthSat Weather has created a suite of high quality value added data products. With internally developed techniques, MDA EarthSat Weather corrects many problems intrinsic to U.S. datasets. MDA EarthSat Weather's methodologies account for the correction of erroneous values, replacement of missing values, and adjustment of time series due to observation discontinuities. MDA EarthSat Weather currently maintains archives on upwards of 5,000 U.S. locations.
