Alteration Zone Analysis
MDA's alteration zone analysis serves mineral exploration groups with identifying areas of known surface alteration are often associated with underground deposits of precious metals.
The objective of an alteration zone analysis is to define areas of anomalous spectral composition associated with areas of mineralization. Because areas of known surface alteration are often associated with underground deposits of precious metals, mineral exploration groups often perform or obtain this type of analysis.
Customized satellite images can be created which distinctly highlight areas characterized by anomalous concentrations of mineral groups associated with hydrothermal alteration and supergene leaching (EarthSat Mineral VueTM). In terms of digital spectral analysis, image classifications can be performed which can pinpoint alteration anomalies as small as 30 meters. Targeted alteration zones in a satellite image can be classified and subdivided according to relative amounts of hydroxyl-bearing clays/micas and iron oxides.
