Iraq Data Package
Geologic Exploration Data Package for the Zagros Foldbelt and Mesopotamian Trough of Iraq
Summary
We are pleased to offer a unique, tightly-integrated, 1:250,000 scale data set that includes a synthesis of tectonic and depositional events, and that provides features difficult or impossible to obtain elsewhere, including:
- A digital geologic interpretation and tectonic synthesis of over 500,000 km² of orthorectified Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) imagery with an unparalleled absolute geodetic accuracy of 50m rms (derived from our GeoCover OrthoTM project).
- The first consistently-integrated regional stratigraphic correlations and nomenclature for this area.
- Structural and lithological interpretations based on TM imagery processed using MDA's proprietary programs.
- Complete land use/land cover analysis.
- Regional gravity data.
- Regional depth to basement.
- Roads, railroads, cities, airports
- Oil fields, refineries, pipelines.
- Political boundaries.
- Complete coverage with Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM) data (28 scenes), 15 meter resolution, seven bands.
These data will be presented as GIS (ARC/INFO, ARC GIS, and ArcView) files.
Our goals for this study are to identify targets for additional exploration, and to provide a spatially-accurate digital database of geologic and production data in a format ready to "drop-into" our clients' workstation environments.
Scope
This study covers a major portion of the most prolific hydrocarbon province in the world, and includes all of Iraq (Figure 1). Click on any thumbnail image below to see the full-size image.

Image map format will be on 2° x 2° mapsheets at 1:250,000 scale with conforming geologic data overlays. The data package will consist of a hardcopy text, and digital image mapsheets and overlays (as GIS files in ARC/INFO, ARC GIS, and ArcView format). Hard copy mapsheets and overlays are available at additional cost. This project is complete and delivery can be made immediately.
Financial Arrangements
This is a non-proprietary copyrighted study available for purchase by any interested party. The price for this study is $35,000. Additional copies for Joint Venture partners are $17,500. These prices are for the digital version of the study.
Hard copy prints of all the 2° x 2° mapsheets and interpretative map overlays are available for $7,800 for the complete set with the purchase of the digital package.
