MDA completes definitization phase on the communications satellite system for the National Space Agency of Ukraine

Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA),
a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it
has received the initial payment due under the $254 million (US)
contract for the provision of a communication satellite system to the
National Space Agency of Ukraine. The contract value will now be
included in MDA’s backlog.
The contract is to deliver an operational geostationary communications
satellite to provide direct broadcast television and high-speed
Internet access to Ukraine and surrounding areas. MDA will build the
communications payload, and procure both a flight-proven satellite bus
and a proven reliable launch service.
