MDA to provide information solution to protect soldiers
Richmond, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions,
announced today that it has signed a $2.3 million (CAD) contract with the
Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) to transition an information
solution that MDA is currently developing for DND’s Counter Improvised Explosive
Device (CIED) Program from demonstration phase to initial deployment phase. Two
systems will be delivered for deployment with the Canadian Forces (CF): one
stand-alone system for immediate use and the other for integration into CF
operational networks. MDA will also provide training to the CF prior to
deployment.
The initial deployment is intended to test an improved
capability to integrate information from multiple intelligence sources and to
generate comprehensive intelligence analysis related to the IED threat to assist
in protecting CF personnel and operations in Afghanistan.
