MDA's surveillance service for the Royal Australian Air Force is now operational

has conducted its first Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) flight for the
Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) - four months after contract award.
Flight operations are now officially underway from the Kandahar
Airfield in Afghanistan. The service will support Australian forces by
providing critically important intelligence, surveillance and
reconnaissance information directly to ground commanders in real time.
Currently serving Canada (operations started in January 2009) and
Australia, MDA operates a full turnkey multi-payload surveillance
mission facility in Kandahar and a complete flight training facility in
Suffield, Alberta.
